Shoemakers Dream by Markus Friedrich Staab

About the Item

Bavarian shoemaker stool, contemporized, remodeled, cut, spraypainted and multi-lacquered. A good example for Staabs "Past forges Future" series. I learn out of a past that has been created for me, a foundation to build on my own work And create new pathes of art, design and everything that comes with it. Like my hereos Braque and Duchamp invented an artform out of existing things, I build my works out and with existing useable pieces like furniture parts or whole classic pieces of designers and craftsmen, rework them, and give them a new destination which I call re-done. To build an open mind for peolple who like classic furniture but interpretate them in a simple, unperfect perfectnes that makes you think. Combining pieces in a untradtional way with traditional methods, like different shapes and different colour matches. The only problem is to find a springboard, parent material to begin with. It works , sometimes it does’nt, or other times you have to wait till the right idea comes. Every piece has a destination and its own mind. M.Staab 2023.
